I've been meaning to make this blog for a while now, and I think since school has recently started for a lot of our members, and quite a few have been sending in notes to the group and to me letting us know that you're not going to be as active in HSV as before, that this is a good time to finally post it.

As most of you know, this group is VERY ACTIVE. And while we want to maintain this (which a few of you know because I already sent out January's WALLFLOWER WARNINGS), it is important that I stress the fact that REAL LIFE COMES FIRST.

We want this group to be active, and that is why we have the Wallflower rule. For those of you unfamiliar with it (though you should have read it the first day you joined and it is on the front page), it's basically this : No one can be a member of HSV if they are not active within the group. One month of inactivity will result in being kicked out of the group and demoted to Watcher status. This rule has no exception to it.

That said, we're not the type who would force people to abandon their real life or their other interests and fandoms. School is important and should ALWAYS be put above HSV. Family, work, friends, and anything else of importance should also never be forsaken for HSV fun. We know you guys want to be involved in all of our events and projects, but real life should always be your top priority. And we here in HSV understand this. So if you have something coming up, or you have to focus on school or work for a time, that's fine, you don't need our permission. The only thing we ask is that you let us know, or at the very least, don't sign up for things that will leave either your partner or your teammates abandoned in the middle of a collab. If it happens, well it happens, but please be responsible enough to let someone know so that accommodations can be made. That's it. We ask for nothing else.

As to the Wallflower rule itself, well it'll stay in place, but as mentioned above, it covers you for an entire month. If you're going to be gone for 2 weeks, you don't really need to let us know. Only when you know you're going to be gone/inactive/on hiatus for longer than a month, just send us a quick note saying “I still want to be an HSV-er but I'm going to be busy for XYZ weeks.” I'll put you down on our “Don't wallflower” list in the backroom forums and you'll be covered. Also, I encourage people to tell us ahead of time about midterms or finals or what have you, to prevent us from making any big plans that you might want to be a part of during those times. (check our schedule of events :: fav.me/d5pyixg  )

I'm sorry if this all seems rather demanding, I know most people are used to joining a group and just kind of submitting stuff at your leisure. But this isn't really the type of group where you're submitting just to show off your art thought I'll be honest with a handful of people it kind of does seem like that's all you want to do.... I don't want HSV to be a group that DEMANDS people participate, and like we've said before there's nothing MANDATORY in this, but one of the things that makes HSV as great as it is is the fact that we are an active and involved community and we want it to stay that way, which is why the Wallflower rule is so important to us. I hope you all understand that.

Bottom line, we do understand and believe that Real life does come first so don't feel like you can't take a break from the group from time to time or cut your participation down to just the weekends (heck, I'm doing that now ever since I started my internship). As long as you're involved, be it chatting, commenting on blogs, voting in polls, hanging out in the chatroom, or just goofing off in comments sections (which we all love to do ;p), that's fine. Just don't be a stranger ;p

Please keep that in mind, and GOOD LUCK to everyone on their studies and their work! :XD:

On a side note... I've also noticed that while quite a few of our new recruits ARE posting deviations, some of you are not really interacting with the other members of the group, or only limiting yourselves to like 3-4 people, which... well it's kind of missing the point of the group which is to create this family community in our little corner of the internet. And I hate to say it, but I have noticed that a few people seem interested only in showing off their art (which frankly, you can do in ANY other OC group so it's kind of of waste to be in HSV if that's all you want to do), or they're zeroing in on making friends with some of our more popular artist (often times for less-noble reasons like trying to score free art from them... which is huge no-no in this group and if I catch anyone blatantly doing this I WILL ban you) . So, I just want to remind everyone that you should try and branch out, make new friend!... Not that those certain few who we all know and love aren't beyond incredibly awesome, but you do know there are 100 other people in the group too right?)
Basically...we've had some problems in the past with “cliquey-ness” and we really do want everyone to get along and get to know one another (we encourage you to sign up for the RANDOMIZED Pair missions too :: :star: fav.me/d5onc2r  ), so just try and say Hi to someone new whenever you can... you never know, you might find a really good friend in the group, I know I've already met at least a couple dozen great people that I otherwise wouldn't have if not for this group. We've got great people in this village, don't deprive yourself of meeting them, it would be shame. :icongrin--plz:
