Hello and welcome to HeartShrineVillage!
Perhaps you are thinking of joining our community or are currently a member, in which case, we invite you to go over these basic rules for our group.
Most of these rules are common sense rules - for example, treat others as you wish to be treated - but a few relate to more specific things about the world in which our RP is set. As such, the rules are split into two sections, Rules of Conduct, and Original Character Rules.
Rules of Conduct
Be respectful of other players and their characters.By entering this group, you are essentially agreeing to allow your character to be subject to inspection, critique and use by other members of the group.
If you do intend to use another player's character in your works, the general rule is to ask permission first, and be willing to accept their criticism of how you depict their character. Always be sure to check the Stat Wheels and profile information of another player's character when using them in your works. If their character is stronger than yours, it's not very likely that your character will easily beat theirs.
Critique should be polite and professional when it is asked for. If critique on a work is not desired, do not give it.
If you're in the chatroom, roleplaying with someone and they say "I'm uncomfortable," immediately stop what you're doing and ask how you can move back to a more comfortable subject.
Keep drama to a minimum.Everyone has bad days and we're not going to punish you for it. Ultimately, though, this is a place were you can come to unwind and let those worries go, even if you are just in dire need of an ear to listen. Don't be afraid to approach chat moderators or the group administrators if you have a problem or even just need to vent for a little while: we won't discuss what you talk about with us and we have private chats where you can voice any concerns you might have.
If you have a problem with another member or the direction an RP session or story is going, please inform an administrator as soon as possible, so that we may address the situation in a timely fashion. Do not resort to fighting, name-calling or harassment: these actions will not be tolerated.
If another member is treating you in an abusive fashion, please get a screencap of this and send it to us. You can take screencaps by pressing "Print Screen" on PCs and by simultaneously pressing the buttons "Command", "Shift", and "3" on a Mac.
Likewise, if you have a problem with a specific administrator, please bring it up with the Mikokage ranked administrator - currently, this is [ddsgale].
Do not trace or copy another artist or writer's works. We do not allow recolors of canonical Naruto characters or other artist's works.
Using references and stock material is perfectly fine, as long as these references and stock items are properly credited. Adoptable character images fall under "stock" and use of that specific image must be credited to the originating artist or designer.
Works containing Mature Content or triggers must have the appropriate filter and warnings. As much as we're a silly place, serious things can happen in RP or the process of storytelling and that's totally cool! But, out of respect for members of the group who might find such subjects distressing, all we ask is that you make sure that they know there's certain themes or subjects that could be upsetting.
Please be aware that any role play sessions or content (including your character's back story) containing the following is strictly not allowed and subject for immediate removal from the group:
---Physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, parental or domestic abuse.
---Explicit reference to or graphic description of abortions, miscarriages, self-harm, underage pregnancy, dismemberment, cannibalism, massacres, violent episodes of insanity, incest or rape.
Submit to the appropriate folders.Works in progress and sketch dumps are not permitted within the gallery, except in the sketches folder.
Good, clear detailed sketches are fine Check our Minimum Quality Control rule for more clarification.
All written prompts must be a minimum of 1000 words to count towards the mission.
If you do not know which folder to submit to, please ask and we will help you.
If you need to drop the group temporarily or are going to be inactive for a while, let us know!Hey, life happens! You may not always have the time to RP, but you don't want to leave all your friends in HSV hanging. All you do is drop us a note and we'll put your character down as having gone off on some Super Secret Long-Term Assignment. Whenever you're ready to come back, they'll be waiting for you or you can start off with a whole new character!
Members will be put on a Wallflower list after a period of 3 months with no activity in the group if we are not notified that they will be taking a break from the group.
If you deactivate your account, in a week you will be removed from the group.

Original Character Rules
These rules serve as the general guidelines under which you can create characters in our group. Please read them through carefully.
Members are allowed to have one active OC to start with.Opportunities to create new active character are unlocked once your FIRST playable character has reached the rank of chuunin.
When naming your OC, please check our Census blog to see if the name is already taken. If it is, consider picking a different name for your character.
Members are allowed to name and mention family members and pets, so long as they are not the sole focus of their works or told in their point of view.
Pets must follow the rules in our Animals blog.
All OCs are confined to the HeartShrineVillage setting. This means:
Your OC must wear PINK in their attire, as it's our official colour.
Your OC may not be related to, married to, or be rivals with any of the existing characters and clans from the Naruto manga, anime or video games.
No canon Naruto kekkei genkai, such as the Rinnegan or Sharingan. Heart Shrine has its own kekkei genkai, unique to the setting, and those are the only kekkei genkai permitted.
No, your OC can't be a jinchuuriki for any of the tailed beasts, the Juubi, demonic, divine or angelic entities, or a horcrux.
Your OC is not the reincarnation of any canon Naruto character, up to and including the Sage of the Six Paths.
Your OC does not belong to the Akatsuki or any similar villainous organizations with nefarious leanings.
Your OC cannot use techniques unique to only certain canonical ninja, such as Kakashi's Raikiri or Minato's Rasengan.
Barring special missions and events set by administrators, your OC has never been to the Elemental Countries and knows no one there.
Your OC starts at the beginning. This means your character doesn't have access to the same skills and stuff an experienced character will have and will have to earn them as they play within the setting.
Starter characters will not have access to any of the following:
Hiden techniques or specialty jutsu
Special Jobs or Titles
Stat boosts are capped by level
GENIN LEVEL --> 17 point limit
CHUNIN LEVEL --> 23 point limit
SPECIAL JOUNIN LEVEL --> 27 point limit
JOUNIN LEVEL --> 30 point limit
HIGH JOUNIN LEVEL --> 35 point limit
TOP TIER JOUNIN LEVEL --> 40 point limit
KAGE LEVEL --> 40 point limit
When creating your character, please be aware that the following are strictly not allowed:Super powers
Wings or animal features that are unrelated to your character's family or ninja tools (such as the Inuzuka)
Mythical creatures as pets or summons
Weird characteristics such as two-toned hair or eyes or Really Ridiculously Specific birthmarks.
Tragic back-stories containing explicit rape, incest, emotional, domestic, parental or sexual abuse. Please refer back to Rule #4 of our Rules of Conduct above for the complete list.
Interaction is key!At its core, Heart Shrine is a role-playing village and that means... your character is going to have to play with others. Even if your character is a a bit of a loner and takes a while to warm up to others, you can still find ways to interact with your fellow villagers.
You can draw, write, chat or even play over instant messenger services with other players.
If you're looking for a good place to start, pop over to the Matchmaker blog and consider approaching a character that's looking for friends.
Don't be afraid to brainstorm with other players - talk out ideas and see where they take you!
Above all, keep in mind the rules of conduct, especially rule Number 1: be respectful.
This revision to the HeartShrineVillage rules went active on March 3, 2014.
