Firstly, I just want to say a quick apology. I know a lot of people have noticed that I'm not as 24/7 active as I used to be when I first founded the group. I wish I could be but I'm just a lot busier than I was a year ago. That, however, does not mean that I'm not as willing to chat with you all. So I encourage anyone who wants to get to know me or just say hi to just say hi. I'm friendly, I don't bite... I promise!
I also want to say a huge thank you to my admins who have made it possible for me not to have to be here all the time. I appreciate everyone's hard work and although I'm not around as much I do check out all your works and I love seeing how much everyone still loves HSV.
Now... there are a few little announcements I and some of the other admins would like to make. Please bear with me I will try my very best to make this as short and clear as possible.
GotP: World Building
As some of you may be aware (if you read my blogs), the point of the Ghosts of the Past arc is to help us world build.
We want to re-create HSV into our own fandom, our own real-time-developed story with our own world
To do this, we intend to start from the ground up... from the history of our village.
I am aware that there are some people who are confused about what this means, so below I will explain a few matters that we admins have addressed and made a decision on.
Please NOTE: There are still many many more things that we are still deciding on - and invite you to share your suggestions as well - both via comments to this blog and/or notes to the group
Previously our storyline had had HSV's founding to have been 2000 years in the past of our present day village.
The story is that the Byakko and Kobiru clan traveled together for 1000 years after the Byakko clan's first leader saved the Fox God (named Byakko) and received the baby fox's blessing and favor.
After wandering for 1000 years, the two clans joined with other clans and founded Omoichidou.
This was 2000 years ago.... however the village did not become a NINJA village until Tenshin arrived.
And that's where the debate began.
Originally Steph (aka *Rikku9314 ) and I had set it at 1700 years ago.
This was the date that we had in all our stories and the original 40 of course probably remember this as our timeline.
Well after the talented and wonderfully insightful :TwinEnigma pointed out the difficulties of communication during our last arc we realized, however reluctantly some of us may have been, that this needed to be changed, therefore the dates have now changed to 777 years in the past from our present day village.
Lucky number and all
Some of you may or may not remember this... it was actually never “canon” for the village, more just something that I wrote on a whim in village history before the village even became a village (i.e. a group).
Some people did notice it though and unfortunately because it was never changed after the founding of the group, this has caused a bit of confusion.
At the present moment we admins are still discussing the specifics on this, however we have come to the decision that we WILL be using the time distortion that was originally set up for the village.
(Still being discussed)
Time within the borders of the village, time flows a little differently. During the 1000 years the Byakko and Kobiru traveled, among other things, they collected books of magic, spells, prophecy, and other grand secrets.
The Fujihara, of course, naturally came to the village with mysteries of their own, so there is a huge treasure trove of knowledge within the village walls.
It is for this reason that the spell was cast throughout the village in order to extend life a little further so that the priests inside had more time to study ancient scrolls that had been passed down throughout the millennia.
This is still being worked through in the backroom forums so we will keep you updated once we make a decision!
This isn't so much a rule as a small side note so that we are all on the same page.
HSV is being played under the assumption that the characters are speaking Japanese.
This doesn't mean you need to add in Japanese words to what your OCs say in RP and all, we can each speak in our own language, but the culture and language that our village has adapted is Japanese. Hence the temples, the clothing, the daily activities, etc.
Side-note from =jesterry: - this ALSO doesn't mean that you cannot name your OC with a non-Japanese name.
With all the rules for travelling and migration being in the process of creation atm, your characters could have arrived to Omoichidou from those parts of our imaginary world where such names are common. So it's alright
HSV: Post-War Time Shift
I want to make this clear because some of you may have missed it, but after the 2nd part of the WAR ARC, we will be allowing “changes” to your OC's history.
Simply put, if say for instance your OC was in a pairing early on that did not work, then you are welcome to make that pairing have been part of the old timeline and not the new timeline.
Example: Aki's first love with Riki, who left the village. Meanwhile Gosai had been in love with her since they were children but never had the courage to ask her out, which is why he missed his chance when Riki showed up and that caused issues between him and Haru later on because of Aki's experience with Riki.
New Timeline: Gosai is a little more bold in this new timeline, so he asked Aki out early on, making Riki lose his chance, and thus when Riki left, Aki was never heartbroken because she was already in love and dating Gosai.
Think about what changes you make and how they effect your OC and the stories surrounding your OC's inter-personal relationships!
Example 2: Raiden always knew he was adopted, but didn't know where he came from, he eventually learns who his parents are... failed OC-sibling attempts later, just as confusing a story as ever.
New Timeline: Raiden discovers he's one of the numerous children sired by Papa Kobiru... Note in THIS timeline he never kissed Aki, who was already dating Gosai at the time, so no kissing his sister!!! let's just be clear on that XP
NOTE: Please comment below with changes, and also please be sure to let other OCs affected by your timeline change know of the change!
General Rules apply → fav.me/d5efb1u
I know some of you think that we are too strict on rules, but to be honest the majority of our rules are not about limitations or demanding anything of you, the point of the rules is to help set some guidelines... Think of them as akin to the laws of gravity or something along those lines
They aren't meant to stifle your creativity, they're simply meant to create a sense of realism and consistency!
We may be adding more along the way but for now the more vital ones are the following:
I hate to say this but I'll be honest, the vast majority of people who decided to give their OC a child have … abused the privilege. There were people who gave birth and the next day decided to go on a dangerous mission, and some who were even taking their babies out on the field. This is just plain unrealistic. For this reason, we have decided to update the rules for pregnancy... before of the above stated changes
Prerequisites: character MUST be:
AGE: 21 at birth of the child.
**Civilian characters must also be 21.
→ Characters will NOT be able to go on missions for the first 8 months of the child's life. (RP-storyline-wise, they can do teaching jobs)
→ Afterward, characters will only be able to do in-village missions until the child character is of Academy page in village time.
→ Characters will take a TBD stat loss for every “year” that they are retired from active duty in order to keep playing with that character. They would resume play with those reduced stats.
*Admin note: stamina and strength would be likely most affected*
→ Both parents can be “retired” but be aware that the female, for obvious reasons, would be more greatly affected.
→ NPC characters cannot take the place of the playable character being "retired" during pregnancy. It must be the active player character.
Kekkei Genkai & Clan Jutsus
After much deliberation we have decided that instead of giving up on the KG and CJ like I had previously anticipated we would need to, we will be working on this. It will, however, but a bit different.
Each KG will have a cap/weakness to it.
Each clans KG will be strong against another clan and weak against another clan's KG, so that every one will be balanced out.
Obtaining a KG will require a test administrated by the admins, and each attempt at gaining the KG will diminish the strength of said KG.
That's all the info I can give you for now, but there will be much much more that will go into this, so if you guys are interested in looking at what we have so far (the KG will likely not change, just the manner in which they are implemented → fav.me/d5nxhhe )
OTL.. sorry... I did try, but there was just so much to touch on. And there will be more to come.
